The downside to the soya boom

Both Argentina and Brazil are suffering from a reaction to the boom in soya prices over the past couple of years. Prices weakened from April 2004 to early February 2005, discouraging Brazilian farmers from producing the crop. In Argentina the environmental damage caused by intensive soya farming is beginning to loom large.
